SALT LAKE CITY-Thursday, Wasatch high boys tennis will have select stars competing at the 5-A state championships at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City.
In first singles, sophomore Cooper Jenkins, Region 8’s #3 seed (3-2 on the season), will represent the Wasps against Farmington star freshman, Josh Jones, the #2 seed from Region 5, who is 8-2 on the season.
In third singles, the Wasps will be represented by Region 8’s #4 seed (1-4 on the season), sophomore Jase Greenwood. He faces an imposing task against Skyline’s Ethan Green, a star freshman who is 6-1 on the season for the Eagles.
Perhaps the Wasps’ best chance to excel at state comes from their 1st team doubles duo (ranked 1st in Region 8) of senior Trevor Bond and sophomore Carson Clark.
They are 4-1 on the season for the Wasps. They will face Region 5’s #4 seed, seniors Mitchell Felix and Michael Ebert of Bountiful.
Finally, in second doubles, Wasatch is represented by Region 8’s #4 seed, juniors Ben Hilliam and Jared Bennion, who are 2-3 on the season. They draw Region 7’s #1 seed, freshman Charlie Jenkins and junior Tyler Easton of Corner Canyon. This duo is 9-1 on the season for the Chargers.
