HURRICANE, Utah-Saturday, Wasatch High School’s boys and girls’ track and field squads concluded their competition at the Hurricane Invitational at Hurricane High School.
The Wasps’ girls’ squad placed fifth with 54 points while Cedar’s girls won the team title with 104.5 points.
The Wasps’ boys finished 11th with 20 points while Hurricane’s boys won the team title with 83.5 points.
The Wasps’ Abbie Randall won the girls’ 3200-meter run title in a time of 11:28.51. while Megan Woodward placed 23rd (14:09.18), Naomi Cernyar finished 24th (14:17.69) and Mary Cernyar finished 25th (16:23.74).
In the girls’ 100-meter hurdles, Annie Hill (15.77 seconds) placed third.
In the girls’ 4 x 100 relay, Wasatch’s “A team” finished 9th (54.58 seconds) as Callie Griffith, Lucy Clawson, Miranda Ross and Jennifer Lythgoe were the stars. Wasatch’s “B team” placed 18th (57.16 seconds) as Makayla Bastos, Alison Besendorfer, Teadora Hinkley and Rachael Heath all competed.
In the girls’ 400-meter dash, Sydney Hales placed fourth (1:00.64) as well as fifth in the 200-meter dash (27.71 seconds).
The girls’ 800-meter run saw Madelyn King place 13th (2:33.46), while Anna Baird (2:36.12) finished 18th. Brooke Sargent finished 23rd (2:38.93), Savanna Dorrough placed 27th (2:40.81), Sophia Burkemo finished 28th (2:41.24) and Grace Neal placed 29th (2:41.81).
In the girls’ 4 x 400 relay, the Wasps’ “A team” (4:13.53) placed second. This team featured Makayla Bastos, Sydney Price, Jennifer Lythgoe and Sydney Hales.
The Wasatch “B team” placed seventh (4:33.57) and this team featured Callie Griffith, Savanna Dorrough, Rachael Heath and Anzlei Larsen.
In the girls’ discus, Wasatch’s Sydney Hiatt placed seventh (84-04).
The girls’ javelin saw Quincy Olney (99-00.50 feet) place seventh and Ellie Tuddenham finished ninth (93-00.75 feet).
In the girls’ long jump, Karissa Bingham (15-11.50 feet) placed third.
The boys were bolstered by Kellin Olsen, who won the 800-meter run title (1:59:09). Additionally, Mack Hinckley (2:10.28) placed 15th in the event.
Also, in the 3200-meter run, Brock Coombs (11:49.31) placed 43rd and Grant Nabaum (12:48.85) finished 46th .
In the boys’ 4 x 100 relay, the Wasps’ “A team” placed sixth (46.87 seconds). This team featured Kaden Smith, Hayden Stocking, Peter Meuzelaar and Seth Saxton.
Finally, the 4 x 400 relay saw the Wasps’ “A team” place third (3:39.08) as this team featured Matt Johnston, Mack Hinckley, Carson Guyman and Kellin Olsen.
