MIDWAY, Utah-Thursday afternoon, Wasatch High School boys and girls cross country had a de facto home meet for the 5-A state cross country championships as they occurred at Soldier Hollow.
The Wasps’ girls placed 8th overall with a score of 209.
Region 8 rival Springville took the girls state title with a score of 38. The Red Devils have now won four state titles, including three in a row.
The girls individual champion was Woods Cross senior Carlee Hansen (19:55.00).
The Wasps were led by senior Abbie Randall who placed 24th (21:49.10).
Her teammates finished as follows:
Sophomore Allison Munck (26th place, 21:49.10), sophomore Emma Page (35th place, 22:08.40), freshman Katie Giles (54th place, 22:42.10) senior Danielle Krull (83rd place, 23:28.20), sophomore Lillie Randall (92nd place, 23:48.60) and freshman Tesha Krull (109th place, 24:23.10).
For the boys, Wasatch placed 17th with a score of 416. Winning the state title was Farmington as the Phoenix earned their second consecutive 5-A crown with a score of 44.
The boys individual champion was Bountiful senior Dalton Mortensen (16:41.50).
The Wasps were led by senior Andrew Sullivan (28th place, 17:50.80).
His teammates placed as follows:
Sophomore Trevor Hardy (63rd place, 18:39.00), junior Zack Goode (104th place, 19:26.20), junior Carson Guymon (123rd place, 19:52.50), junior Christian Spencer (124th place, 19:53.40), junior Eastin McCotter (126th place, 19:53.80) and junior Jake Giles (141st place, 20:24.70).
