SALT LAKE CITY-Friday, the Wasatch boys and girls cross country teams fared spectacularly at the Sugarhouse Invitational, the initial cross country meet of the high school season.
The girls placed 14th overall and the boys 25th, which is impressive when one considers that all Utah high school classifications were represented at this meet.
For the girls, Anna Baird placed 70th overall in a time of 20:40.3, while Hailey Ellis placed 74th overall.
Also placing for the Wasps’ girls were Madelyn King in 94th, Savanna Dorrough in 121st, Anna McCullough in 122nd, Danielle Krull in 146th and Grace Neal in 147th.
The American Fork girls won the overall title with 99 points with the Wasps posting 417 overall points. The individual girls’ winner was Mountain View’s Helena Miyazawa in a time of 17:18.9.
For the boys, Bentley Ackerson was the highest-placing Wasp in 104th place. Also placing for the Wasatch boys were Conner Weldon in 143rd place, Josh Benson in 145th, Mack Hinckley in 150th place, Braden Patterson in 156th place, Ben McCullough in 161st place and Carson Guymon in 172nd place.
The overall team win for the boys was won by Skyridge as the Falcons netted 123.5 points with Wasatch amassing 668 points.
The individual winner for the boys was Joey Nokes of Riverton with a time of 14:54.00.
