Wasatch Cross Country Competes At Pleasant Grove Saturday

PLEASANT GROVE, Utah-Saturday, Wasatch High School boys and girls track competed at the 2019 Viking XC Invitational hosted by Pleasant Grove High School with several Wasps student-athletes excelling against the best runners in the state.

The Pine View girls took the team title as the Panthers posted a score of 63. The Wasps’ girls placed sixth, netting 142 points.

For the boys, American Fork netted the team title, as the Cavemen posted a score of 27. Wasatch finished 10th overall with a score of 233.

The girls’ individual champion was Emma Heslop of Westlake, who posted a time of 18:18.22. Wasatch’s Abbie Randall placed fourth overall (19:03.38) as the star junior continued her successful cross country season.

Additionally, freshman Allison Munck placed 18th overall (19:47.75) while fellow freshman Lillie Randall finished 36th overall (20:31.12).

Emma Page, another Wasatch freshman, finished 45th overall (20:40.28) and senior Madelyn King placed 50th (20:55.31).

Junior Danielle Krull placed 56th (21:24.69) and junior Savanna Dorrough placed 73rd (22:36.78).

The boys’ overall champion was American Fork’s star senior Asthon Hysell, who posted a time of 15:33.00.

The top-finishing boy for the Wasps was senior Josh Horner, who placed 35th (17:05.91). Sophomore Jake Giles placed 40th (17:14.18). Senior Bentley Ackerson placed 48th (17:22.31) and junior Ethan Huntsman finished 54th (17:29.34).

Freshman Trevor Hardy placed 56th (17:33.88) and senior Josh Benson finished 77th overall (18:23.38).

Sophomore Carson Guymon placed 80th (18:35.69), becoming the final Wasps boys cross country student-athlete to cross the finish line at this event.

Wasatch High School cross country next competes at the 2019 Park City Invitational Friday at 9:00 am at Round Valley/Quinns Junction.
