UVU Tip-Off

OREM, Utah-Taft Mitchell posted 32 points and the Orem Tigers cruised past Wasatch 73-56 Wednesday during the UVU Tip-off. The Wasps led 32-28 at the half but a 21-9 surge in the 3rd Quarter gave the Tigers a lead they would not relinquish as they won, going away.

Collin Hegsted added 20 points in the win for the Tigers, who improved to 1-1 on the season.

Will Harris had 16 points and Britton Maxwell added 15 more in the loss for the Wasps, as they fell to 0-2 on the season.

Maxwell earned player of the game honors from 94.5 The Peak broadcasters Ty & Ty, Tyler Moss and Tyler Baird during the postgame show.

In comments with Ty&Ty following the game, head coach James Ballstaedt said that the Wasps will not have things get any easier for them as Monday evening they travel to Mt. Pleasant to face the No. 9 in the nation Wasatch Academy Tigers.

Ballstaedt said he set the schedule up deliberately this way to challenge his squad, preparing them for the rigors of the season.
