FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla.-Thursday, several Utah-based college football student-athletes were named to the watch list for the Wuerffel Award, which is “college football’s premier award for community service.”
Representatives include BYU junior defensive lineman Uriah Leiataua, Utah junior receiver Britain Covey and Utah State senior kicker Dominik Eberle.
The award is named in honor of Danny Wuerffel, the former star quarterback at Florida, who won the Heisman Trophy in 1996.
This is the only major college football trophy that places the emphasis on how a student-athlete performs in serving in his community.
This award will be presented in February 2020 at the Emerald Coast Convention Center of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
