OREM, Utah-Friday, Utah Valley head men’s basketball coach Mark Madsen announced the hiring of former SLCC head men’s coach Todd Phillips as an assistant.
Phillips comes to the Wolverines after nine years as the head coach of the Bruins.
During his time at SLCC, Phillips amassed a record of 205-58 (.779), including an 82-32 mark in Scenic West Athletic Conference play (.719).
Phillips led the Bruins to four NJCAA national tournament appearances as well as the 2016 NJCAA national title.
Prior to getting the head coaching job at SLCC, Phillips served as an assistant under Norm Parrish for the program.
Under Parrish, he helped lead the Bruins to the 2009 national title, the first in program history.
Phillips earned SWAC coach of the year honors in 2013, 2015 and 2018 while also receiving the Region 18 co-coach of the year award in 2018.
Prior to his time at SLCC, Phillips was an assistant coach at Westminster for eight seasons.
Phillips previously played college basketball at Snow College and ensued in his playing career at NAIA Lewis-Clark State of Lewiston, Idaho.
