RIVERSIDE, Calif. -Friday through Sunday, Utah Valley baseball (11-32, 7-11 in WAC play) visits the California Baptist Lancers (26-18, 11-7 in WAC play) for a key series.
The Lancers are fourth in the WAC standings with the Wolverines currently checking in at sixth place.
The top six squads will qualify for the WAC tournament May 22 at Mesa, Ariz., with the exception of the Lancers as they are currently transitioning from NCAA Division II to Division I.
Senior outfielder Ryan Eastburn leads the Wolverines in batting average (.356).
Junior outfielder Alexander Marco (6 home runs, 35 RBI) leads Utah Valley in both of those categories.
For California Baptist, redshirt senior infielder Luke Navigato (a .371 batting average) leads the charge.
Redshirt senior utility player/right-handed pitcher Ryan Mota leads the Lancers in both home runs (13) and RBI (39).
California Baptist’s leading pitchers are junior right-hander Logan Rinehart (6-0 record, 3.44 ERA and 51 strikeouts) and redshirt junior right-hander Andrew Bash (a 2.10 ERA and a team-best 55 strikeouts).
This series commemorates the first meetings in history between the Wolverines and the Lancers.
