Utah Minor League Baseball Roundup: 9/1

Pacific Coast League

SALT LAKE CITY-The Salt Lake Bees overcame a 6-0 deficit after the 1st Inning to prevail against the Reno Aces 7-6 Sunday evening at Smith’s Ballpark in Pacific Coast League baseball action. By the end of the 2nd Inning, the Bees had shaved off three runs from the deficit with RBI from Jarrett Parker, Roberto Pena and Jo Adell. In their half of the 4th, the 60-78 Bees took the lead for good with RBI from Pena, Jose Rojas, Kaleb Cowart and Wilfredo Tovar. Jason Alexander earned the win on the mound for the Bees as he improved to 3-5 on the season. Jamie Westbrook, Blake Swihart, Marty Herum and Jose Queliz had RBI in defeat for the 65-74 Aces. These squads will face each other Monday at 1:05 pm at Smith’s Ballpark to conclue their respective seasons.

Pioneer League

OREM, Utah-Jimmy Titus and Sauryn Lao each homered as the Ogden Raptors outlasted the Orem Owlz 5-4 Sunday at UCCU Ballpark in Pioneer League baseball action. Titus also added an RBI single and Ismael Alcantara added an RBI single for the 50-20 Raptors. Elio Serrano improved to 5-0 on the season for Ogden, amassing seven strikeouts in as many innings. Caleb Scires homered and Morgan McCullough added an RBI double and Justin Kunz chipped in with an RBI single for the 28-42 Owlz.
