DES MOINES, Iowa-Phillip Evans and Addison Russell each homered as the Iowa Cubs downed the Salt Lake Bees 5-2 Tuesday, completing the sweep in the series at Principal Park.
P.J. Higgins added an RBI sacrifice fly for the Cubs, who improved to 66-55 on the season.
Dillon Maples improved to 4-4 on the season for Iowa with the win, netting three strikeouts in two accredited innings of work.
Jared Walsh and Roberto Pena each homered for the Bees, who fell to 51-70 with the loss.
Pioneer League
OGDEN, Utah-Jorbit Vivas hit an RBI single in the top of the 10th Inning and the Ogden Raptors outlasted the Missoula Osprey 3-2 in Pioneer League baseball action Tuesday at Lindquist Field. Andy Pages added his 12th home run of the season for the 41-12 Raptors, while Sauryn Lao had an RBI triple as well for Ogden. Mark Mixon earned the win on the mound for Ogden as he improved to 2-0. Carson Maxwell and Cesar Garcia had RBI in defeat for the 28-25 Osprey.
OREM, Utah-Johan Sala and Justin Kunz each had RBI as the Orem Owlz outlasted Idaho Falls 3-1 at UCCU Ballpark Tuesday in Pioneer League baseball action. Brandon White added a stolen base for the Owlz in the bottom of the 8th Inning for a key insurance run for 19-34 Orem. Matt Bower improved to 1-0 on the season by securing the win for the Owlz. Rhett Alpin had an RBI single in the loss for the Chukars, as they fell to 26-26.
