DES MOINES, Iowa-While on a rehab assignment from the Chicago Cubs, Addison Russell put the game away with a 7th Inning solo home run as the Iowa Cubs downed the Salt Lake Bees 5-2 Sunday afternoon at Principal Park in Pacific Coast League baseball action.
Johnny Field and Taylor Davis added RBI for the Cubs in the win as they improved to 64-55. Matt Swarmer pitched 6.1 innings and netted five strikeouts to improve to 8-10 on the season in the win for Iowa.
Roberto Pena and Erick Salcedo had RBI in a productive 7th Inning for the Bees, which saw them score both runs on the afternoon as they fell to 51-68.
Pioneer League
OGDEN, Utah-Tyler James and Brady McConnell each homered as the Idaho Falls Chukars outgunned the Ogden Raptors 13-9 Sunday at Lindquist Field in Pioneer League baseball action. Cole Watts earned the win on the mound for the Chukars, as he improved to 1-3 on the season. Idaho Falls improved to 26-24 on the season with the win. Aldrich De Jongh and Cesar Mendoza each homered in defeat for the Raptors, as they fell to 39-12.
OREM, Utah-Johan Sala’s RBI single in the 8th Inning proved to be the game-winner as the Orem Owlz edged the Missoula Osprey 3-2 at UCCU Ballpark Sunday in Pioneer League baseball action. Torii Hunter Jr. added an RBI single for the Owlz, who improved to 17-34 with the win. Zac Kristofak improved to 2-3 on the mound with the win for Orem. Tristen Carranza had both RBI in the loss for the Osprey, as they fell to 28-23.
