DES MOINES, Iowa-Zack Short and Trent Giambrone homered as the Iowa Cubs downed the Salt Lake Bees 7-3 Saturrday in Pacific Coast League baseball action at Principal Park. Giambrone also had an RBI ground out single while Johnny Fied and P.J. Higgins also had RBI for the Cubs as they improved to 63-55 on the season. Tyson Miller earned the win on the mound for Iowas as he is now 2-2 on the season. Jarrett Parker homered and Justin Bour added a 2-RBI single in the loss for the 51-67 Bees.
Pioneer League
OGDEN, Utah-Michael Emodi homered and tripled as the Idaho Falls Chukars outlasted the Ogden Raptors 9-8 in Pioneer League baseball action Saturday at Lindquist Field. Jose Ramirez earned the win on the mound for Idaho Falls, as the is 2-0 on the season, while the Chukars improved to 25-24.
Barandon Lewis homered three times in the loss for the Raptors, as they fell to 39-11.
OREM, Utah-Johan Sala’s sacrifice fly RBI in the 10th Inning lifted the Orem Owlz to a 6-5 win over the Missoula Osprey at UCCU Ballpark Saturday in Pioneer League baseball action.
D’Shawn Knoles added a pair of RBI on a 3rd Inning triple and a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 6th Inning. Shane Kelso earned the win on the mound fro the Owlz, to improve to 2-1 on the season.
David Sanchez homered in the loss for the Osprey as they fell to 28-22.
