FULLERTON, Calif.-Thursday, Utah men’s basketball continues its season by competing at the Wooden Legacy at Fullerton, Calif.
The Utes will draw an old-school conference rival from their Western Athletic Conference days in the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. The Utes have dominated the series, leading the Rainbow Warriors 49-10 all-time.
The 2-1 Utes come in with wins over Maine and Mississippi Valley State and dropping a game on the road to the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
The Rainbow Warriors are 3-1 to start the season and have won three straight over Portland (82-64), Division II Humboldt State (90-54) and Northern Arizona (85-68) after dropping the season opener to North Texas, 68-51.
Hawaii, under head coach Eran Ganot, averages 77 points a game and only gives up 63.5 points a game.
The leader for the Rainbow Warriors is Latvian national, forward Zigmars Raimo, who averages 13.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
Should Utah win, they will play the winner of the Seton Hall-Grand Canyon game Friday at 9:30 pm MST. A loss against the Rainbow Warriors would see the Utes play the loser of Seton Hall-Grand Canyon Friday at 7:00 pm MST.
