SALT LAKE CITY-In an era where live sports events are sparse, a glorified competition of the popular basketball shooting game H-O-R-S-E has attracted the gaze of sports fans across the country.
This competition, known as the NBA Horse Challenge, will occur in two segments. The first airs on ESPN Sunday from 5:00-7:00 pm MDT with the quarterfinals. Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00 pm, there will be an encore presentation of the quarterfinals, also on ESPN. The semifinals and HORSE Championship game air Thursday from 7:00-9:00 pm MDT on ESPN.
Among the competitors in this event is Utah Jazz veteran guard Mike Conley Jr.
Conley, who is averaging 13.8 points and 4.3 assists per game for the Jazz this season, will be joined by seven other competitors, three fellow NBA standouts and four WNBA players.
They are Oklahoma City Thunder guard Chris Paul, Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young, Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine and retired NBA standouts, former NBA Finals MVP’s guard Chauncey Billups and forward Paul Pierce. The WNBA will be represented by WNBA All-Star Allie Quigley of the Chicago Sky and retired star Tamika Catchings.
