Utah Gymnastics Names Carly Dockendorf As Director of Recruiting

SALT LAKE CITY-Monday, Utah Gymnastics announced Carly Dockendorf as the program’s new director of recruiting and player development.

Dockendorf goes down in history for the most successful athletic program in school history as the Red Rocks have never employed a recruiting director before.

In this role, Dockendorf will be involved in all aspects of recruiting, including strategy, database management, on-campus official and unofficial visits and all recruiting travel for the program.

She will also serve as a liaison between gymnasts on the roster and campus departments, tracking academic progress reports, hours at the study table and mentor meetings. Furthermore, she will assist incoming freshmen in making the transition to the collegiate environment.

Dockendorf is currently in her second year on the Red Rocks’ staff, serving last year as the team’s volunteer assistant coach and choreographer.

By virtue of her contributions, the Red Rocks fielded one of the best teams in the nation on the floor exercise with MyKayla Skinner and Sydney Soloski each earning All-American honors in this event.

Additionally, Skinner won the Pac-12 floor exercise title and MaKenna Merrell-Giles won this event at the NCAA regional at Salt Lake City this past April.

Prior to coming to Salt Lake City, Dockendorf spent six years as an assistant gymnastics coach at Division II Seattle Pacific and also spent three seasons as the Falcons’ assistant track and field coach.

Dockendorf, a native of Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada, is also a former Canadian National Team member and starred in two sports as an NCAA All-American at Washington, excelling in both track and field and gymnastics for the Huskies.

She was a three-time NCAA regional champion and captured the then-Pac-10 uneven bar title, earning three All-American honors on floor as well.

As a pole vaulter, she placed sixth at the NCAA National Championship meet at Sacramento, Calif.

Furthermore, she is USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Certified.
