Utah Football Snapper Named Semifinalist For Mannelly Award

SALT LAKE CITY-Wednesday, University of Utah football senior snapper Keegan Markgraf has been named as a semifinalist for the 2020 Patrick Mannelly Award.

This award is annually bestowed upon the best long snapper in college football.

Markgraf, a native of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, is one of 10 semifinalists for this honor, which had its inaugural season in 2019.

Three finalists will be announced December 22 and invited to remotely participate in the award ceremony January 9.

This award benefits Bernie’s Book Bank, a Lake Bluff, Ill.-based nonprofit that provides books for under served communities in the Chicago area.

Markgraf is one of two Pac-12 student-athletes who are semifinalists, joining USC redshirt senior Damon Johnson.

Markgraf has taken 139 career snaps for the Utes, including 55 punts, 19 field goals and 64 PATs.

He has participated in 22 snaps on the season. These have resulted in four field goals (4-4), 8 PAT’s (8-8) and 10 punts.

Markgraf first came to the Utes’ program in 2018 after transferring from Central Michigan.

He graduated in spring 2020 with a degree in economics, netting a GPA of 3.829 after earning CoSIDA Academic All-District and Pac-12 all-academic team honors.

He is currently pursing a Master’s degree in economics.
