SALT LAKE CITY-Zack Moeller came up with a key RBI single in the 6th Inning, which ultimately proved to be the game-winner, as Utah baseball outlasted USC 6-5 Friday afternoon at Smith’s Ballpark in Pac-12 baseball action.

In a productive 6th Inning for the Utes, Moeller’s go-ahead RBI single was set up by Oliver Dunn’s squeeze play which scored Briley Knight to give the Utes a 4-3 lead they would not relinquish.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Brett Brocoff went 6.2 inning on the mound and surrendered four hits, earning the win for the Utes.

The Utes’ offense, which netted 11 hits, scored three of their five runs with two outs in their respective innings.

Freshman right-handed pitcher, Zac McCleve, pitched 2.1 innings to secure the save for the Utes who improved to 9-18 on the season and 2-12 in Pac-12 play.

Utah goes for the series win Saturday at 11:30 am at Smith’s Ballpark.
