LOGAN, Utah-After going 17 of 23 for 322 yards and five touchdowns in a 59-28 rout of UNLV Saturday, Utah State quarterback Jordan Love was named as one of eight quarterbacking “stars of the week” by the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Others on this list include Tennessee QB Jarrett Guarantano, Ohio State signal-caller Dwayne Haskins, Florida International QB James Morgan, Louisiana QB Andre Nunez, Iowa State QB Brock Purdy, Iowa QB Nate Stanley and Mississippi QB Jordan Ta’amu.
Love was also named as the Mountain West Conference’s Offensive Player of the week, the College Football Performance Awards Honorable National Mention National Performer of the week and the College Sports Madness MW Offensive Player of the Week.
Saturday, Love became the 5th quarterback in school history to throw five touchdown passes in a game. Others include Chuckie Keeton (who did it three times), all-time North American pro football passing leader Anthony Calvillo (who did it twice), Tony Adams (who did it twice) and Brent Snyder, who did it once.
Love is the engineer of an offense that amasses 51.7 points per game, second in the FBS.
In his past four games, Love has completed 71.3 percent of his passes (82 of 115) for 1,079 yards (269.8 yards per game), 13 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.
