USU Linebacker David Woodward Earns Defensive Player of the Week Award

LOGAN, Utah-Per news released Sunday, Utah State sophomore linebacker David Woodward was named as the College Sports Madness Mountain West defensive player of the week for his role in the Aggies’ 24-16 win at Wyoming Saturday.

At Laramie, Wyo., Woodward, a native of Olympia, Wash., amassed a game-high 16 tackles, a forced fumble and a pass breakup for the Aggies.

This was Woodward’s fifth double-digit tackle performance of the season.

The Aggies, who have won six straight games, improved to 6-1 on the season, their best start since 1974.

Utah State’s season continues Saturday at home against the New Mexico Lobos for a 2:00 pm kickoff. This game will be streamed live on Facebook.

The Aggies also received 50 votes in The Associated Press poll and 63 votes in the coaches’ poll. In effect, this would make them the 27th ranked team in the land.
