USU-Eastern Names New Softball Coach

PRICE, Utah-Monday, USU-Eastern Utah named Ryan Smith as the program’s new softball coach per a statement from athletic director Chelsey Warburton.

Smith comes to USU-Eastern after spending the last five seasons as a coach at Hurricane High School, including the past two as the Tigers’ head coach.

Smith, originally from the Bear Lake, Idaho area, has also coached five years at the competitive club level for the Southern Thunder.

Smith has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Argosy University and a Master’s degree in social work from Cal State Northridge.

Smith and his wife, Melanie, have five children, including a daughter, Jaiden, who plays at Snow College as an outfielder.

The Eagles return half a dozen starters and all-conference honorees from last season. USU-Eastern is coming off of a 25-27 campaign.
