Three BYU Football Standouts Named To The Athletic All-American Team

PROVO, Utah-In news released Tuesday evening, three BYU football standouts were named as All-Americans by The Athletic.

Junior tackle Brady Christensen and sophomore kicker Jake Oldroyd were named to The Athletic’s second team.

Freshman tight end Isaac Rex was named to the publication’s second-team all-freshman All-American team.

This is the decorated Christensen’s eighth postseason All-American team. The 6-6 300-pound Bountiful High School product and Oldroyd are the first Cougars to be named to numerous All-American teams since tight end Dennis Pitta in 2009.

Oldroyd made all 13 of his field goal attempts this season and 60 of his 62 PAT attempts.

Rex receiving this distinction commemorates the fifth consecutive season that a Cougar has received freshman All-American honors under head coach Kalani Sitake, who is, incidentally, in his fifth season at the program’s helm.

The 6-6 247-pound Rex led the Cougars in scoring receptions with 12. This ties him for third nationally with Arkansas State senior Jonathan Adams Jr. and Florida junior tight end Kyle Pitts.

Rex netted 37 receptions for 429 yards this season for BYU.
