Talem Franco Advances To Men’s 1500-meter Finals At NCAA Championship Meet

AUSTIN, Texas-Wednesday, as the NCAA Division I outdoor men’s and women’s national championship track and field meet commenced at Mike A. Myers Track and Field Stadium, a former Wasatch High star earned a shot at a national title.

In the men’s 1500-meter run preliminaries, BYU junior Talem Franco placed third in a time of 3:44.46.

Wisconsin’s Oliver Hoare ran a 3:44.25 to secure the top seed headed into Friday’s final.

In a closely contested race, Notre Dame’s Yared Nuguse ran a 3:44.33 to become the second seed and Franco finished just ahead of the fourth seed, Mick Stanovsek of Washington who ran a 3:44.50.
