LINCOLN, Neb.-Southern Utah men’s basketball (1-0) visits Big Ten Conference foe Nebraska (0-1) at Pinnacle Bank Arena of Lincoln, Neb., Saturday for a 1:00 pm MST tip-off.
The Thunderbirds are coming off a 110-64 win over Bethesda of Anaheim, Calif. Tuesday. The Thunderbirds’ scoring offense currently ranks sixth nationally, tied with Bethune-Cookman, Iowa State and Austin Peay.
SUU posted 25 assists on 40 baskets while shooting 54.8 percent from the field. This currently ranks them 39th in the country in field goal percentage.
Junior guard Dre Marin posted 20 points on 7-11 from the field for the Thunderbirds to lead the way.
The Cornhuskers, under new head coach Fred Hoiberg, a former Iowa State star and NBA journeyman, fell 66-47 to the UC Riverside Highlanders of the Big West Conference at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
In this game, Nebraska shot 29.1 percent from the field and was led by sophomore guard Cam Mack (11 points/9 rebounds).
The Cornhuskers are 4-0 all-time against the Thunderbirds. The last game came in 2009 at Lincoln with Nebraska routing SUU 94-61.
