SUU Football Announces Brandon Fisher As New Defensive Coordinator

CEDAR CITY, Utah-Tuesday, Southern Utah football head coach Demario Warren announced the hiring of a new defensive coordinator as well as other changes to the staff ahead of the 2019 season.

Warren confirmed the Thunderbirds have hired longtime NFL assistant Brandon Fisher as the new defensive coordinator.

Fisher was the secondary coach of the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams in 2015-16. Under his guidance, the Rams were ninth in the NFL in total defense and 10th in passing yards allowed in 2016.

Fisher first came to the Rams, working under his father, Jeff, who was the head coach at the time, from 2012-2016, starting as an assistant in the secondary.

In 2011, Fisher was the Detroit Lions’ defensive assistant and was an offensive assistant for the Tennessee Titans in 2010.

Fisher starred for the Montana Grizzlies from 2005-2009 and played in a pair of FCS championship games in that span.

Additionally, Uani ‘Unga will serve as assistant to the head coach and a linebacker assistant.

Furthermore, Robert Bala was moved into the role of cornerbacks coach/special teams assistant and had previously served as assistant to the head coach.

Also, CJ Wilford has been moved to offensive assistant/player personnel coach after working on the defensive side of the ball through the 2018 season.
