Skyler Southam Earns Praise From Kalani Sitake

PROVO, Utah-During remarks following BYU football’s Wednesday practice, head coach Kalani Sitake confirmed he is impressed with former Wasatch High star kicker Skyler Southam.

Southam, a former Army High School All-American, has the inside track for the Cougars’ starting kicking job headed into the season opener September 1 at Arizona.

After Wednesday practice, the Cougars’ last official off-season practice, when asked about Southam, Sitake said “I think [Skyler Southam] has done a great job with placekicking duties.

A 6-1 190-pound prospect, Southam holds the Utah high school state record for most field goals in a season as he made 20 in 2015.

In his high school career with the Wasps, he made 114 of 116 PAT’s and 36 of 53 field goal attempts.

Southam recently returned from serving in the Chile Santiago West Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
