SAN FRANCISCO-Monday, the Pac-12 Conference extended its suspension of all athletic competitions through May 31 per a statement made by the San Francisco-based conference.
This decision was made following a meeting with the conference’s CEOs, per a news release.
As part of the suspension, the banning of organized team activities or in-person voluntary workouts continues along with practices or film studies.
Furthermore, coaches and training staffs of Pac-12 institutions, including the University of Utah, are barred from hosting any virtual voluntary workouts regardless of where they occur, the release stated.
Athletic departments are permitted to host virtual group activities and film studies. However, they are limited to two hours per week for football and four hours weekly for any other sport.
The conference is following the NCAA’s directive on this point and is currently appealing this decision for football players as they hope to increase the time to four hours weekly for football.
Coaches for the numerous athletic programs at Pac-12 institutions are permitted to write self-directed training plans with taped demonstration for all student-athletes at these schools.
