HEBER CITY, Utah-Thursday, No. 2 Payson spoiled No. 1 Wasatch’s blackout as the Lions upset Payson 48-27 in Region 8 wrestling action at the Nest.
The Wasps did receive victories from River Wardle at 132 pounds, Sammy Heywood at 138 pounds and Stockton O’Brien, who won at 145 pounds, by virtue of a forfeit.
The Wasps built a 27-9 lead only to see Payson respond with a 39-0 run to win going away.
The Lions won the last seven matches successively to get the decisive victory and pull off the upset over the vaunted Wasps.
