Dr. Dunn Addresses Media Tuesday For Coronavirus Briefing

SALT LAKE CITY-Tuesday, during a succinct 12-minute Utah Coronavirus briefing, state epidemiologist Dr. Angela Dunn adeptly broke down the numbers from Monday-Tuesday for COVID-19 at the Utah State Capitol Building.

Dunn stated that there are now 3,296 positive COVID-19 tests in Utah. While this is +83 from Sunday-Monday, it is -61 from the net positive tests increase from Sunday-Monday.

4,047 total tests were administered in the Beehive State, Dunn said, from Monday-Tuesday. This means that only 2.2 percent of those tested Monday-Tuesday came back with positive tests.

Presently, 72,358 total COVID-19 tests in Utah have been administered.  This means that 4.55 percent of Utahns are currently testing positive from the disease. There are now 277 hospitalizations from COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 9 from Sunday-Monday’s totals.

There are 32 deaths from COVID-19 in Utah now. This is an increase of 4 from Sunday-Monday’s totals.

Dunn confirmed that all the deaths in the past 24 hours from the disease were men over the age of 60 who were hospitalized and died from an association of COVID-19 and underlying health issues.

Three of them were Salt Lake County residents and one was a Weber County resident. Dunn confirmed that three of these deaths occurred at long-term healthcare facilities. Furthermore, Dunn said that 16 of the 32 deaths from COVID-19 have occurred at long-term healthcare facilities in Utah.

Dunn again reiterated the Utah Department of Health’s request that all those who even have the slightest symptoms from COVID-19 get tested.

Dunn also encouraged everyone to continually engage in social distancing as this has created a good environment in Utah for COVID-19 tests to drop.

There will be another Utah Coronavirus Task Force briefing Wednesday.

Wasatch County presently has 122 cases of COVID-19, six hospitalizations and a death that occurred April 10.
