Dixie State Pounds Western Colorado To Sweep Weekend Series At Home

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Dason Youngblood and Hunter Schofield posted 21 points and 7 rebounds apiece as the No.23 Dixie State Trailblazers pounded Western Colorado 87-57 Saturday evening at Burns Arena in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men’s basketball action.

Dixie State shot 58.3 percent (35-60) from the field for the game in improving to 16-3 and 11-2 in RMAC play.

Youngblood and Schofield also shot a combined 18-27 from the field in amassing their symmetrical statistics in the win.

Dixie State built a 40-29 lead at halftime en route to the easy victory against the Mountaineers, who fell to 7-12 and 4-9 in RMAC play.

Matthew Ragsdale’s 14 points led Western Colorado in the loss.

Dixie State returns to action Friday and Saturday on the road as they visit Fort Lewis and Adams State respectively as the Trailblazers seek to stay in first place in the RMAC.

Black Hills State is close behind Dixie State at 10-2 in the conference standings and 16-5 overall.
