LAS VEGAS, N.M.-Dason Youngblood’s floater in the lane with 2 seconds left in overtime lifted Dixie State to a 109-108 overtime win over New Mexico Highlands Friday at the John A. Wilson Complex in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men’s basketball action Friday.
Hunter Schofield added 25 points and 5 rebounds on 5-9 from the field and 14-19 at the foul line in the win for the Trailblazers.
The Trailblazers improved to 9-0 on the season and 4-0 in RMAC play while Frank Staine added 19 points on 7-12 from the field and made a clutch 3-pointer in the extra session to help Dixie State pull away.
Youngblood’s heroics netted him 15 points as well for Dixie State in the thrilling victory.
The Trailblazers shot 56.9 percent from the field for the night and 60.7 percent in the second half as they overcame a 51-35 halftime deficit to ultimately steal the win.
Raquan Mitchell amassed 41 points and 6 rebounds on 10-20 behind the arc in the loss for the Cowboys as they fell to 6-2 and 1-2 in RMAC play.
Dixie State seeks to keep their undefeated season alive Saturday at Colorado State-Pueblo.
