ST. GEORGE, Utah-Saturday, Dixie State football completes its three-game home-stand by hosting another fellow Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foe in the South Dakota Mines Hardrockers.
This is the Alzheimer’s Awareness Night for the Trailblazers and at the half, DSU student-athletes will throw out purple T-shirts, balls and other items to the crowd to help promote the walk to end Alzheimer’s November 10.
Saturday’s match-up is the fifth all-time between these schools which sees the Hardrockers leading the all-time series 4-1, including 2-0 all-time at St. George.
The Hardrockers are led by signal-caller Jake Sullivan who has completed 73 percent of his passes for 774 yards and five touchdowns on the season.
He has also run for 123 yards and three more scores for South Dakota Mines, as they are 2-1 on the season and 1-1 in RMAC play.
South Dakota Mines’ defensive leader is linebacker Michael Retland, who has 2.5 sacks on the season and in the secondary, Marken Vilson and Dominick Jackson have two interceptions apiece for the Hardrockers.
Hardrockers kicker Enis Sefa is the reigning RMAC Special Teams player of the week as he made all 7 of his PAT’s and a 39-yard field goal in last Saturday’s 52-28 dismantling of Simon Fraser.
Sefa has made 4 of 5 field goals on the season and is 15-15 on PAT’s.
