SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.-Friday, Dixie State baseball opens its season with a 4-game weekend at San Bernardino, Calif.
This trip consists of one game against Cal State San Bernardino and three more against Saint Martin’s of Lacey, Wash.
The Trailblazers, who were 25-25 last season, will trot out senior pitcher Jayden Murray, who was 3-5 in 2018, for Friday’s first game against the host Coyotes.
Dixie State is 14-4 all-time against the Coyotes and has won 12 straight games in the series.
The Trailblazers’ second starter Friday will be junior left-handed pitcher Tevita Gerber.
For Saturday’s game against Saint Martin’s, Dixie State will go with sophomore left-handed pitcher Jack Gonzales.
Finally, on Sunday, as the series against the Saints concludes, Dixie State will bring out redshirt senior right-handed pitcher Kaivon Kealoha.
The Trailblazers are 8-3 all-time against Saint Martin’s headed into this weekend series.
Since making the jump to NCAA Division II in the 2006-07 athletic season, the Trailblazers are 7-5 on opening day.
In its Division II history, Dixie State is 385-221-1 (.635) in 12 years of competition.
