Day 3 of State Track: Wasatch Concludes Season

PROVO, Utah-Saturday, Wasatch High School’s boys and girls track teams concluded their seasons by participating at the final day of the state track and field championships at Robison Track on the campus of Brigham Young University.

In the girls’ 1600-meter run, Abbie Randall placed 13th (5:23.18) with Woods Cross’ Carlee Hansen (4:58.56) taking the state title in the event.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Annie Hill placed second (15.42 seconds) narrowly losing to Corner Canyon’s Emma Bagley (15.41 seconds).

Sydney Hales placed seventh in the girls’ 400-meter dash (59.19 seconds).

For the boys, Mack Hinckley placed fourth in the 400-meter dash (50.48 seconds).

In the girls 4 x 400 relay, the Wasatch 4 x 100 relay team placed third (4:02.24) and medaled. The Wasps were represented by Sydney Price, Jennifer Lythgoe, Miranda Ross and Sydney Hales.

The Wasatch girls placed 12th overall in the standings, netting 27 points. Provo won the girls’ state title 55.5-55.0 over Farmington because of star runner Meghan Hunter’s magnificence in finishing off the 4 x 400 relay.

To conclude the Wasatch track season, the Wasps’ boys 4 x 100 relay team placed seventh in class 5-A (3:27.21). This team consists of Bentley Ackerson, Josh Benson, Kellin Olsen and Mack Hinckley.

The Wasps conclude the state track and field championship meet by placing 18th in 5-A with 11 points.

The Corner Canyon boys’ team makes school history by winning their first state track and field championship by posting 81 points in Class 5-A.
