PROVO, Utah-Tuesday, the BYU women’s basketball squad added a pair of international players to their 2018-19 roster.
Kaylee Smiler, a 5’6″ guard out of Hamilton, New Zealand previously played for the province of Waikato on the U19 and U23 women’s teams. Smiler was named to the U19 Tournament Squad.
Previously, Smiler played at Mellville High School, averaging 18 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. She was also one of six finalists for the Waikato Secondary School Sports Awards.
She is joined by Swedish national Signe Glantz, a 6’1″ forward who played three years on the BG Lulea Swedish National Team. Glantz is a native of Ostersund, Sweden.
Glantz was a member of the U18 team that won the 2017 FIBA women’s European champions in Division A.
In 2015, Glantz’s U16 squad won the European Champions in Division B. She also played on the U 19 national Swedish team.
Other Cougars to be in this recruiting class include Shaylee Gonzales, Tahlia White and Bablu Ugwu who signed their letters of intent last November.
