PROVO, Utah-Thursday, BYU men’s basketball secured another key signing as head coach Mark Pope landed 6-5 guard Tanner Toolson out of Union High School of Camas, Wash.
Toolson, a native of Vancouver, Wash., chose the Cougars over Boise State, Utah and Utah State.
Toolson is the son of former BYU guard Andy Toolson who starred for the Cougars in 1984-85 and 1987-1990.
Tanner Toolson averaged more than 23 points per game this past season for the Titans, leading them to a 25-1 record and a berth in the Washington State 4-A state basketball semifinals.
Tanner Toolson was named as the Greater St. Helens League MVP and was named as Washington’s 2020 Mr. Basketball by the Washington High School Basketball Association.
Tanner Toolson will serve a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints mission before enrolling at BYU.
