BYU Football Tight End Matt Bushman Named To Mackey Award Watch List

NEW YORK-Friday, BYU senior football tight end Matt Bushman was named to the watch list for the John Mackey Award.

This award is annually bestowed upon the best tight end in FBS college football.

Bushman, a senior out of Tucson, Ariz., is the only Utah-based collegian on the preseason watch list this season.

In three seasons with the Cougars, Bushman has amassed 125 receptions for 1,719 yards (13.8 yards per reception) and nine scoring receptions.

The 6-5 245-pound Bushman is also an NFL prospect.

In other BYU football news from the weekend, numerous sources say a “strong possibility” exists that the Cougars will be able to play the Alabama Crimson Tide of the SEC in what would be the first matchup for each school of the season.

This news was broken by Matt Zenitz, a senior SEC reporter for al.com.
