BYU Football Announces Upcoming Games Against Central Florida; Rice

PROVO, Utah-Tuesday, BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe announced the football team would play future games against Central Florida of the American Athletic Conference and Rice of Conference USA.

The Cougars and Knights, each of whom have routinely defeated vaunted Power 5 conference foes, will meet at Orlando, Fla. November 11, 2023.

UCF returns the favor August 31, 2024 when visiting LaVell Edwards Stadium as the Cougars’ guests.

The Knights moved up to FBS from I-AA (now called FCS) in 1996 and have excelled since that time.

During their time at the FBS level, UCF has won six conference championships and completed an undefeated season in 2017.

The Knights have made 10 bowl appearances, including berths in the 2014 Fiesta Bowl and the 2018 Peach Bowl.

BYU and UCF are tied 1-1 all-time.

The Cougars will meet Rice, their one-time fellow members of the Western Athletic Conference, September 29, 2023 in Provo and September 27, 2025 at the Owls’ campus in Houston.

The Owls have made 12 bowl appearances and won the 1946 Orange Bowl with a 6-0 win over Tennessee.

They have also won three Cotton Bowl titles, 27-14 over Colorado in 1937, 27-13 over North Carolina in 1949 and 28-6 over Alabama in 1953.
