PROVO, Utah-Monday, BYU men’s basketball forward, freshman Caleb Lohner, was named as the West Coast Conference’s Freshman of the Week.
In the Cougars’ game against Boise State and Utah last week, Lohner averaged 5 points and 8 rebounds per game.
In the 82-64 win over the Utes Saturday, Lohner posted eight rebounds and a career-high 10 rebounds.
The Dallas native leads the 6-2 Cougars in rebounding, posting 6.8 boards per contest.
He is also tied with senior guard Alex Barcello for the team lead in steals with 7.
The Cougars return to the hardwood Friday to face San Diego State at the Viejas Arena at Aztec Bowl at San Diego.
The Aztecs are 5-0 and are ranked No. 18 in this week’s The Associated Press Top 25 poll as confirmed earlier Monday.
