PROVO, Utah-Monday, BYU baseball sophomore shortstop Jackson Cluff was named as a Collegiate Baseball player of the week as well as the West Coast Conference player of the week.
Cluff, a native of Meridian, Idaho, is the first Cougar to win national player of the week honors twice this season. He also joins former BYU pitcher Kolton Mahoney, who is currently in the Miami Marlins organization, as the only Cougar to earn national weekly honors twice in a career.
In four games last week, a loss to San Diego State and a series win over San Francisco, Cluff batted .562 with a 1.062 slugging percentage.
This season, Cluff leads the Cougars in batting average (.346), hits (62), runs (53), RBI (56), doubles (19) and stolen bases (12).
