PROVO, Utah-Tuesday, BYU baseball (7-3) hosts Utah Valley (2-8) for the Cougars’ home opener at Miller Park.
The 6:00 pm opening pitch will see the Cougars go with junior right-hander Jarod Lessar, who is 1-1 with a 4.66 ERA on the season.
The Cougars’ 7-3 record is their best after 10 games since 2016 when they started the season 9-1.
BYU pitchers have allowed three or fewer runs in nine of their 10 games this season, including a current six-game streak.
Sophomore infielder Jackson Cluff has a team-high 11 RBI for the Cougars.
Junior infielder Kade Poulsen leads the Wolverines with six RBI on the season.
Utah Valley is going with junior right-hander Matt Dalke on the mound, who is 1-0 on the young season.
The Cougars lead the Wolverines 27-9 all-time and have won the last six in the series.
