BYU and San Francisco Cross Country Picked as WCC Co-Champions

SAN BRUNO, Calif.-Wednesday, the West Coast Conference announced its projected cross country champions.

BYU and defending champion San Francisco each earned five first place votes and 77 votes overall.

Last season, both squads were successful as the Dons took first place at the NCAA West regional with the Cougars placing third in the Mountain regional.

At the national championship meet at Louisville, Ky., the Dons placed second overall and the Cougars placed 11th.

The All-WCC women’s cross country preseason team features a triumvirate of BYU stars in junior Olivia Hoj of Holladay, Utah and Olympus High School, sophomore Sara Musselman of American Fork, Utah and American Fork High School and junior Courtney Wayment-Smith of Layton, Utah and Davis High School.

Musselman and Wayment-Smith are first-team selections with Hoj on the second team.
