Mark Orphey Named As USU Football’s New Cornerbacks Coach

LOGAN, Utah-Tuesday, Utah State football head coach Gary Andersen announced the hiring of Mark Orphey as the Aggies’ new corner-backs coach.

Orphey comes to Logan from Montana State where he helped the Bobcats to an 8-5 record and a berth in the second round of the NCAA FCS playoffs in 2018 while joining the staff in 2017.

Before going to Bozeman, Mont., Orphey served as a quality control and defensive graduate assistant at South Carolina (2013-2016)

Orphey was a three-year starter at Texas Southern, earning all-SWAC honors as a junior and senior (2009-2010) while starring for the Tigers. His coaching career began at Texas Southern, where he served as the Tigers’ corner-backs coach from 2011-2012.

Orphey graduated from Texas Southern in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and earned his master’s degree from South Carolina in 2015 in health information technology.
