Wasatch School District Introduces Wasatch Wellness

Wasatch School District Introduces Wasatch Wellness

As reported by Dr. Ben Springer, Wasatch County School District cares about every child from every family. “Modern-day schools and communities present unique challenges to children beyond reading, writing, and arithmetic. Because of this, we want to do our part in supporting our students, their families, and our community.

In an effort to support all kids from all families, we have launched an initiative called “Wasatch Wellness.” This initiative has been made possible through the collaboration of our District PTA, Wasatch Mental Health, and the Wasatch County School District Board of Education.”

What is “Wellness?”

  • Wellness is access to resources at home, school, and the community
  • Wellness is navigating relationships at home, school, and the community in a meaningful way
  • Wellness is improving our competence in a skill or a trade at home, school, and the community
  • Wellness is understanding the basics behind a healthy diet, sleep, and exercise

The vision of the Wasatch Wellness imitative is to help all kids, faculty, staff, and community members access wellness across these domains. To achieve this vision, we’ve established the Family Education Center – a physical location with reliable resources for kids, faculty, staff, and community members beyond the school day to serve as the “hub” of our Wasatch Wellness initiative.

The Family Education Center is located at Timpanogos Middle School (1415 East 980 South), with classes beginning next Tuesday, Oct. 1. We encourage you to check out the Family Education Center Course Catalog to see if there’s an offering that could help your student or your family with issues they might be facing. Topics for this inaugural session include:

Spectrum Solutions

Screentime and Social Media Wellness

NAMI Basics: Thriving with Mental Illness

GSA Activity Night!

Mental Health First Aid

Thriving with Anxiety

Prime For Life: Reducing Risk of Drug and Alcohol Problems
