Randall wins for Lady Wasps at WHS Cross Country Meet

The Wasatch Cross Country team is proud to host arguably the hardest race every year in Wasatch County’s Soldier Hollow Olympic Complex. The Soldier Hollow course consists of grueling up hills, intense down hills and is one of the only cross country races held on a trail system. Because of the difficulty of the course most runners run 2-3 minutes slower on this course. We have been hosting this invitational since 2007 and were extremely pleased with how well our team did.

Our Varsity boys did really well, the first five athletes came in within a minute of each other, which is exactly what we like to see in a cross country team.  Our Freshman Sophomore Boys also pulled out an amazing race and placed 3rd in their division.

Our Girls were a huge success placing second overall in their division. Abbie Randall took first place and led the girls varsity race for all three miles finishing at a commanding lead of 20 seconds before anyone else with a time of 21:09. This is the first time any lady wasp has won this race since 2007 making Abbie’s race even more impressive. Our Freshman Sophomore team also led out an incredible race and placed 1st. Our very own Emma Page had a 20 second lead in her race as well with a time of 23:22.2. Freshman Kallie Kuch also had a notable race and was able to take 3:39 off of her season personal best despite the difficulty of the course.

Overall as coaches we were really pleased with how our team ran and can’t wait to see this type of grit manifest itself throughout the rest of the season. More results can be found on runnercard.com. — As reported by Wasatch High Athletics.
