Wednesday covid-19 report for Utah; Wasatch County Experiences Sixth Death

SALT LAKE CITY-For the second time in three days, Wasatch County experienced a death attributed to covid-19.

As confirmed Wednesday afternoon by Trudy Brereton, the health education and media relations coordinator for the Wasatch County Health Department, this death was a male over the age of 85. He was not hospitalized at the time of his death, Brereton confirmed.

Otherwise, Wasatch County experienced three new cases of covid-19 in the past 24 hours, increasing the case total to 624.

Hospitalizations (25) remained unchanged in Wasatch County in the past 24 hours, per Wednesday’s report.

As for Utah, since statistics began being kept, there have been 50,174 recorded cases of covid-19. This represents an increase of 407 in the past 24 hours and a net increase of four in the same span.

637,329 Utahns have been tested for covid-19. This is an increase of 6,730 in the past 24 hours.

This caused a decrease in the positive test percentage to 7.87 percent. This was at 7.89 percent Tuesday. The 24-hour positive test percentage plummeted to 6.04 percent Wednesday. Tuesday, this figure was at 9.49 percent.

There have been 41,937 recoveries from covid-19 in Utah per Wednesday’s report. This is an increase of 408 in the past 24 hours and a net increase of 43 in the same span.

The differential between all-time cases and recoveries in Utah shrank to 8,237, -1 in the past 24 hours.

The current recovery percentage in Utah is 83.58 percent, an increase of 0.14 percent in the past 24 hours.

There are currently 7,838 active cases in Utah. This is a decrease of four in the past 24 hours.

The current active case percentage in Utah is 15.62 percent.

The differential between recovered cases and active cases in Utah increased to 34,099 Wednesday. This is an increase of 412 in the past 24 hours.

There have been 2,996 recorded hospitalizations in Utah since statistics began being kept. This is an increase of 27 in the past 24 hours.

Currently, there are 118 covid-19 hospitalizations in Utah, dropping the number to 3.93 percent.

This was at 4.17 percent Tuesday.

The ICU cases for covid-19 in Utah dropped by seven to 40. This dropped the ICU covid-19 current hospitalization percentage to 33.89 percent. This was at 37.9 percent Tuesday.

Currently, 64.9 percent of ICU is occupied in Utah.

The deaths in Utah increased by four Tuesday to 401 deaths. The current death percentage is 0.799 percent in the Beehive State.
