HEBER CITY, Utah-The Wasatch County School District has confirmed it is combating teen vaping at Wasatch High School with new technology.
Since the first day of school last month, the district has enforced anti-vaping activities, such as the D.A.R.E. curriculum.
Vape detectors have been placed in all bathrooms and locker rooms at the school.
The school has a zero-tolerance vaping policy and students who violate the rules may face possible suspension.
A University of Michigan study confirms that one in four high school students and one in five sophomores are using e-cigarettes nationwide in 2019.
The Utah Department of Health released numbers Monday that confirm 47 cases of severe lung disease in the Beehive State are associated with vaping nicotine, THC, or both substances.
The department also says an additional 22 other cases are currently being investigated.
