(Salt Lake City, UT) — A new bill in Utah introduces additional safety measures for schools, including cybersecurity standards, security hardware, and mental health screenings for guardians carrying firearms. HB 40 also establishes a Higher Education Advisory Board and a school safety foundation for security upgrades. With 200-million-dollars already allocated for school security, the bill could add another 130-million this year. HB 40 has passed its first vote and is set for further legislative review.
