Utah Public Land Sale Proposal Removed from House Bill

(Washington, D.C.) — A proposal to sell thousands of acres of federal land in southern Utah was removed from a major House bill passed by Republicans. The plan was introduced by Utah Representative Celeste Maloy, and would have allowed land near Zion National Park and other protected areas to be sold for affordable housing projects. The Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance celebrated the removal as a victory for conservation.
