Utah Law May Be Impacted As High Court Takes Up Texas Case

(Washington, DC) — A Texas law that forces adult entertainment websites to verify the age of its users will go before the U.S. Supreme Court. The case has possible implications for Utah which has a similar law. Opponents to the law say it violates free speech. Texas passed its legislation last year, arguing that the sexually explicit material on these sites is harmful to children. In response, many high-profile pornography websites banned users from Texas rather than rewrite age guidelines and protocols. Louisiana, Oklahoma and Virginia also have these kinds of laws on the books.
